Green facts: Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley achieved carbon neutral certification when it opened in 2009, and has been re-certified every year since then.

The resort was built by Australian architecture firm Turner + Associates Architects, and is a leading example of eco-design. The architecture and construction incorporates ecologically sound and sustainable design principles such as:

  • Rainwater collection.
  • Full recycling of all domestic water.
  • Heat exchange technology to reduce electricity consumption.
  • Use of solar panels for all hot water systems.
  • Using traditional windmills instead of electrical pumps.

Even the interiors of Emirates One&Only Wolgan Valley reflect the resort’s commitment to supporting regional artisans - most of the furniture and artwork was commissioned locally.

The original homestead’s garden was thoughtfully re-built in the same location and form, and now serves as the organic garden that supplies the resort’s kitchen with seasonal and organic vegetables, fruits and herbs throughout the year.

Resort guests are actively involved in the conservation work. The resort also works closely with numerous government, community and educational organisations to further improve environmental and sustainable initiatives.
