Green facts: The Verdura Resort was designed by architect Flavio Albanese using materials like stone, sand and wood, which are in harmony with the colour of the ground.
In 2016, Ivan Artolli, the Managing Director for Verdura Resort, was awarded the EHMA corporate social responsibility prize; this is an exclusive prize given to those who succeeded in implementing and promoting sustainable hospitality actions by means of environmental protection and preservation.
In 2015, Verdura announced the Verdura Organic Farm. Within the 230 hectare Verdura estate, there are 2000 olive trees, 3000 orange trees, 250 almond trees, 150 prickly pear cacti, 120 pomegranate trees and 50 lemon trees, beyond which there are 2,600 square metres of land where aromatic herbs and organic vegetables are grown, including artichokes, eggplants, tomatoes, peppers, melons, red pepper, beans, rosemary, sage, mint and wild fennel. Everyday, the organic produce is handpicked by the Executive Chef at Verdura, in order to prepare the dishes on the menu in the resort’s four restaurants as well as the cocktails at Granita Bar.
Other sustainable initiatives include:
